Intern: Employment Navigator
Hours – 10-20 a week
Fall Semester
(unpaid internship, potential for course credit)
- Staff our resource center assisting formerly incarcerated individuals as they drop-in for assistance.
- Help build resumes and apply for jobs
- Help individuals identify what type of employment they are looking for, their skills and educational opportunities
- Job interview preparation and communication skill building
- Engage in follow up with individuals seeking employment, after they obtain and provide ongoing support.
- Resource navigation and assistance with correspondence to incarcerated individuals
- Scan job boards and compile an employment list weekly with potential opportunities for members seeking work.
- Conduct employer outreach to build employer partnerships and networking
What skills you will gain from this internship:
- Practical experience in providing direct service to at-risk populations.
- Be able to empower individuals to make positive changes in their lives.
- Learn about community resources and how to build rapport with individuals.
- Experience first hand the inner workings of how a non-profit social service organization operates.
- Work with individuals with a wide variety of diverse backgrounds.
- Be a part of a strong and supportive community.
- Able to utilize supervision to discuss and improve your practice.

Reentry Services Intern
Hours – 10-20 a week
Fall Semester
(unpaid internship, potential for course credit)
Are you interested in helping individuals prepare for their release from incarceration?
- Correspondence with currently incarcerated individuals in jails and prisons across the state
- Provide reentry coaching re: housing, employment, behavioral health and other needs, as well as assisting participants with developing personalized reentry plans and goal setting.
- Provide referrals, as well as follow up to ensure needs are being met
- Staff our resource center assisting formerly incarcerated individuals as they drop-in for assistance.
- Attend and assist with weekly support group meetings
Qualifications:
- Enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program
- Active interest in supporting incarcerated and formerly incarcerated individuals
- Able to work independently
- Ability to communicate with diverse populations.
